JOB SUMMARY

The Donation Station Manager is responsible for all Donation operations and ensures efficient and profitable execution of Goodwill Industries programs, policies and expectations through his/her team. The Donation Station Manager creates an environment that delivers an outstanding customer experience in a clean, friendly and safe manner.

REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • Responsible for creating schedules for direct reports and ensuring all Donation Station hours have adequate coverage.
  • As needed, coordinates scheduling with Transportation for pick-ups or deliveries of material.
  • Conducts root because analysis for shipping/storage issues and defines corrective action plans to avoid reoccurrence.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fluid environment and effectively cope with change.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, plus the ability to communicate with a wide range of people.
  • Demonstrate a strong aptitude for leadership, communication skills, personnel development and training.
  • A self-starter able to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • Manages projects to meet objective, budget and timeline goals.
  • Position will include extended periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping or twisting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong skills in communication, organization and follow-through.
  • Ability to adjust priorities and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain records and documentation pertaining to work force.
  • Ability to recruit, train and develop a successful team.
  • Acts as a role model for the staff by providing the highest level of customer service at all times.
  • Applicants must have a flexible schedule to include nights and weekends.
  • Previous management experience preferred.
  • Ability to implement work place organization and housekeeping.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, other personnel and the public.
  • Must travel to other locations, donation bins(BBB) and home pick-ups on a regular basis and on special assignments.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance.

THE STORE MANAGER PLAYS A KEY ROLE IN THESE PRIMARY BUSINESS AREAS:

· Must continuously monitor the conditions of all donation centers every morning and throughout the day.
· Greet and assist every donor. Must act as a responsible worker for the Agency by providing a high level of customer service to all donors. This includes an appropriate and friendly greeting, within 10 seconds assisting each donor at their vehicle and providing the donor with a completed tax receipt. At the end of each transaction, the donor must be thanked for giving to Goodwill.
· Maintain the donation centers and surrounding areas. Must be completely free of clutter and debris. The donations must be well organized and neat. Attendants must constantly be aware of the site’s appearance and do housekeeping as necessary to keep the site neat and attractive.
· Call the Transportation Manager(s) when the center(s) is too full.
· Report any vandalism, theft problems, unsafe conditions or maintenance requirements to the Donations Acquisition Manager/VP; Retail Operations immediately. With safety in mind, protect the assets of the Agency against all vandals and bandits. All reasonable attempts must be made to stop people who are attempting to steal donations.
· Obey all OSHA regulations and safety requirements. Promote good safety work habits with all employees. Report any safety related problems to the transportation manager. Follow proper safety procedures including proper lifting techniques. Must know how to properly read and use the MSDS book as well as the first aid kits.
· Plan, schedule, assign and monitor work of others.
· To safety conduct home pick-ups and deliver the donated materials to proper location.
· Ability to develop a schedule for clearing out donation bins (BBB) when needed.
· Maintains inventory and material management strategies by regular review of inventory parameters and goals.
· Responsible for Donation Operations, which includes hiring, training and developing personnel.
· The Donation Station Manager manages up to 15 hourly employees.
· Prepare and/or approve reports.
· Evaluate the performance of other employees.
· Maintain records and files.
· Comply with and monitor safety programs.
