Description
Description The Donor Retention Specialist (Temporary) works closely with the Chief Development Officer and Development Team to strengthen donor loyalty, reduce donor lapse, and support long-term giving through consistent, meaningful donor communication and follow-up. This role is focused on retention—helping donors remain connected to the Mission’s impact through excellent gratitude, thoughtful engagement, and clear pathways to continue partnering. This position supports donor retention strategy through donor outreach, lapsed donor re-engagement, recurring and monthly donor care, and coordination of donor experience improvements across systems, messaging, and campaign follow-ups. The goal is to build trust, increase donor confidence, and ensure donors feel valued, informed, and connected beyond the ask. Temporary assignment (based on organizational need). Who you are: Organized, attentive, and on time. Someone who brings excellence in everything you do. Detail-oriented with a knack for seeing the big picture. Confident with email, Microsoft 365, and working in a donor database or CRM. Dependable and trustworthy with confidential and personal information. A strong communicator—warm, professional, and donor-focused in writing and on the phone. Able to work in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment while maintaining consistent follow-up. What you’ll do (just the basics): Execute donor retention activities that reduce lapse and strengthen year-over-year giving. Manage lapsed donor re-engagement efforts through organized outreach lists, workflows, and follow-up communication. Support recurring and monthly donor retention through consistent gratitude, impact touchpoints, and timely follow-up. Improve donor follow-up systems so donors receive clear confirmation, thanks, and impact after giving. Assist with donor segmentation for retention efforts (such as new donors, recent donors, lapsed donors, and recurring donors). Coordinate donor communications tied to campaigns and appeals to ensure donors receive impact updates, not only asks. Capture and relay donor feedback and insights to help improve donor retention and overall donor experience. Maintain accurate donor records and documentation related to outreach and follow-up. Bonus Points: You enjoy building simple systems and workflows that help a team stay consistent. You naturally think in terms of donor experience—what a donor sees, feels, and understands after giving. You have experience in donor communications, nonprofit development support, or customer service. Requirements A mature walk with Jesus Christ and able to articulate Biblical beliefs and their application within the context of the Fresno Mission. All employees of Fresno Mission are an integral part of the outreach ministry of a non-denominational, evangelical ministry sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ through transformational programs that provide food, shelter, clothing, education, job training and renewal of families to the poor and addicted. All employees are Christian missionaries and are required from time to time to participate in chapel services, outreach ministries, Bible studies and prayer times. Due to the nature of these types of ministries, it is an absolute necessity that each employee possesses and maintain a Christian testimony of their faith and experience in Jesus. Must be in agreement with the Statement of Faith of the Fresno Mission.
