DOOR HARDWARE ESTIMATOR

Our long-established business is seeking a full-time project estimator / project manager and field technician in the commercial door and access hardware sector.
The Estimator reports to the General Manager and determines specific product information based on an examination of project plans and specifications. Applicants must have two years of experience with door and hardware estimating and installation procedures. This includes specific information related to each door frame, door, door hardware, mill work and any other customer requirements. Responsibilities include customer service, door and frame takeoffs and creation of estimates. Extensive product knowledge and computer operating system familiarity are required. The successful candidate will demonstrate applicable knowledge in reading floor plans, blueprints, and other architectural reports and schematics. Field technical duties are at times a part of the estimator’s scope of work.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • (2) Yrs experience with door and hardware industry estimating work.
  • A good overall knowledge of doors, frames, hardware and installation procedures.
  • (2) Yrs experience working with contractors and/or integrators.
  • A high level of integrity with a strong result-oriented work ethic.
  • A team player who is interested in and committed to company excellence.
  • Able to work well under pressure and effectively manage stress.
  • Ability to multi-task, flexible and adaptable to rapid change.
  • A strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy & quality control.
  • Ability to effectively schedule & deliver estimates on time. Organized & efficient.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management team, customers & vendors and to communicate in group situations as well as one on one.
  • Computer knowledge, including standard Microsoft Office products, pdf reading and editing software, estimating software, and digital blueprint reading abilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships.
  • Pro-actively pursue new customers and job opportunities.
  • Timely response to bid inquiries and problem resolution.
  • Maintain contact with key architects & developers to win product specification.
  • Communicate pro-actively and thoroughly with customers regarding job details, problems or alternatives.
  • Creating and maintaining customer quotes and RFP responses.
  • Effectively negotiating project prices and adjusting to maintain gross margin targets.
  • Work closely with the Project Admin team throughout the project process until closing.
  • Coordinate sales/estimating efforts with scheduling offices to optimize productivity.

  • CDC or AHC certification is a benefit.
