JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment within our manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs that adhere to OSHA regulations and promote occupational health. The Safety Coordinator will work closely with management and employees to foster a culture of safety, conduct training sessions, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations set forth by the EPA.
Position Overview
The DOT Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all safety and compliance programs for a steel trucking company operating under DOT and FMCSA regulations. This role ensures drivers, vehicles, and operations meet regulatory standards while addressing the unique safety challenges of hauling steel, heavy loads, and flatbed operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s in Transportation, Safety Management, or related field preferred).
• 2+ years in DOT compliance or fleet safety, preferably in heavy-haul or steel/flatbed trucking.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, HOS rules, and cargo securement standards.
• Experience in accident investigation and safety training.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to coach drivers effectively.
• Proficiency in compliance software, ELDs, and Microsoft Office.
