JOB SUMMARY:

The Draft and Design Coordinator will be in charge of creating accurate technical drawings and plans based on specifications provided by architects, engineers, or designers. Responsibilities include preparing detailed CAD drawings, modifying designs as needed, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining organized documentation. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, proficiency in drafting software (such as AutoCAD or Revit), and a solid understanding of construction or manufacturing processes. Throughout the design/build process, this individual will work with the client, Project Managers, and Superintendents to create functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces that adhere to blueprints, building codes, budgets, and inspection requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting or a related field preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field highly preferred
  • Interior design certification preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience working in a similar drafting role

    Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Create detailed technical drawings and plans using CAD software
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects to incorporate design specifications
  • Review and revise drawings based on feedback from project stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Calculate dimensions, weights, and quantities for accurate construction and manufacturing
  • Maintain updated records of all drawings and revisions
  • Assist in the development of project timelines and schedules
  • Conduct field visits to gather measurements and notes for project accuracy
  • Prepare documentation and reports related to drafting activities
  • Offer support and guidance to junior drafters and interns
  • Works with clients to determine initial goals and requirements for the space to be designed.
  • Oversee the selection timeline to ensure clients stay on schedule, enabling Superintendents to order and coordinate materials promptly.
  • Prepares sketches or other visual aids to demonstrate preliminary designs to client.
  • Consults with client to select materials, furnishings, and decor.
  • Orders or sources minor cosmetic materials and furnishings as needed.
  • Uses design applications to prepare and illustrate renderings for client presentations.
  • Determines timelines and project costs as requested by the Superintendent.
  • Oversee the timely design of WCI built custom cabinetry.
  • Oversee the installation of materials, furniture, and other design elements.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by making periodic site visits throughout the project as needed.
  • Maintains current knowledge of trends and materials, techniques, and other developments in interior and exterior design.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
