Description Job Title: Drafter / CAD Operator IV Company: Trimitron Corporation Location: On-site in Virginia Beach, VA Position Type: Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Position Overview: Trimitron Corp is seeking a highly skilled Drafter / CAD Operator IV to provide advanced drafting, modeling, and technical drawing support to the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Pacific’s Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Division. This senior-level role supports the development, modification, and documentation of engineering designs for mission-critical PNT systems, components, and installations. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with CAD tools, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with engineers and technical teams in a fast-paced Navy/DoD environment. Key Responsibilities: Develop complex engineering drawings, 2D/3D models, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical illustrations supporting PNT system development and integration. Create detailed fabrication, assembly, and installation drawings in accordance with Navy, NIWC, and DoD standards. Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and design inputs to produce accurate and complete technical documentation. Update and revise drawings to reflect engineering changes, configuration updates, and system modifications. Work closely with engineers, technicians, and program managers to translate technical concepts into precise CAD models and drawings. Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and configuration management activities. Provide drafting expertise to support prototype development, system integration, and test activities. Maintain drawing files, version control, and documentation in accordance with Government and contractor configuration management processes. Ensure all drawings comply with applicable standards, including MIL-STD, ANSI, and NIWC drafting requirements. Prepare drawing packages, technical data, and supporting documentation for engineering deliverables and program reviews. Support the development and documentation of PNT system layouts, equipment racks, cable routing, and installation plans. Assist with modeling and documenting system upgrades, modernization efforts, and new technology integration. Ensure all drafting work aligns with PNT mission requirements, technical constraints, and operational needs. Required Qualifications Active Secret security clearance. Extensive experience in drafting, CAD modeling, and technical drawing production (typically 10+ years or equivalent senior-level expertise). Proficiency with industry-standard CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar). Strong understanding of engineering principles, technical documentation standards, and drafting conventions. Ability to interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and technical data. Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or C4ISR-related engineering programs. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting NIWC, NAVWAR, NAVSEA, or other Navy technical organizations. Familiarity with PNT systems, maritime electronics, or shipboard installation environments. Experience with 3D modeling, cable routing diagrams, and mechanical/electrical integration drawings.
