PHASOR Engineering Inc. is a dynamic consulting firm specializing in the engineering and design of overhead & underground transmission/distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, as well as substation and transmission foundations. Our expertise allows us to be involved in a diverse range of projects from conceptual engineering through to commissioning and startup.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Drafter/Design Technician to join our Winnipeg engineering team. We offer a dynamic work environment with an extremely experienced technical team, where you will be fully involved in all aspects of the engineering and design process.
You will work in a team setting and participate in a wide variety of design for underground and overhead design projects, including transmission, distribution and substation design and power system studies.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • The successful candidate should possess a Diploma or Certificate in Design or Drafting from a recognized institute.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of drafting experience.
  • Drafting experience in MicroStation preferred

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite of programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an attention to detail are essential.
  • Able to work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
  • Previous experience working on HV Substation designs for Utilities in North America would be considered an asset.
  • Previous exposure to drafting software such as AutoCAD would be an asset.
  • Class 5 Drivers license required.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8-hour days
Responsibilities
  • Work within a project team of engineers and designers in our Substation and Line Design Group;
  • Assist with substation and overhead lines/underground cable routing layout & configuration design for high, medium, and low voltage projects;
  • Assist with project development, scope, and budget;
  • Attend client design review meetings;
  • Conduct field site inspections and field reports;
  • Gain knowledge of power system studies and analysis using engineering software packages such as PLS- CAD, EasyPower, SKM, ETAP, Win-IGS, CDEGS, and PS-CADD;
  • Prepare electrical equipment specifications, electrical installation scope of work documents, and performance specifications;
  • Assist the engineering teams with drafting and CAD updates to drawings;
  • Prepare, review, and complete drawing mark-ups;
  • Prepare and issue drawing packages;
  • Be motivated to attend site and liaise with construction teams as required.
