POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Drafter position is to assist the Drafting Department with various drawings using standard CAD packages. This position will coordinate their activities with the supervisor, senior designers, designers, engineering, and other functions related to construction and maintenance of Kinder Morgan assets and maintain design and drafting documentation and records making sure that drawings comply with regulations and company requirements. This position reports to the Design and Drafting Supervisor for Products Pipelines/Midstream.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:

  • Completes multiple Mechanical redline requests.
  • Provides weekly updates to Lead on progress.
  • Exercise and apply commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures required in Midstream Pipeline Industry.
  • Conducts own quality QA/QC reviews of all drawings before submitting to the Lead or QC for approval.
  • Utilizes raster editing software.
  • Able to work with Company document management system (Meridian) or equivalent DM systems.
  • Works with x-ref supported drawing files.
  • Works as a team player with the Drafting team to complete the projects.
  • Learns and incorporates terminology and acronyms of the Midstream Pipeline Industry into drawings and related work outputs.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Position Requirements and Skills include but are not limited to:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience with degree.
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience without a degree.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in Midstream Drafting
  • A Minimum of 3 years in 3D Piping and experience in Plant, Process Piping P&IDs is required.
  • Experience managing and building 3D model sets a must.
  • Experience with CADWorx and AutoCAD 3D a must.
  • Experience with Civil, Electrical, Foundation and Detail Drawings a plus.
  • Knowledge of P&ID symbols and terminology.
  • Knowledge and experience using Windows operating systems.
  • Must have good communication skills, written & verbal, work with minimal supervision, and simultaneously manage multiple projects to meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Must be punctual and dependable with ability to listen and learn.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
