Chief Draftsman – 1st shift Alliance
A leading fabrication company is seeking an experienced Chief Draftsman to lead our drafting and design department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical drafting, leadership experience, and a degree in Engineering, Drafting & Design, or a related field. This position will play a key role in overseeing design accuracy, improving efficiency, and ensuring projects meet both customer and production requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Drafting & Design, or a related field (required)

Proven experience in a fabrication or manufacturing drafting environment.
Strong proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
Excellent understanding of fabrication methods, materials, and tolerances.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Schedule: Day shift, full-time.

Lead and supervise a team of draftsmen, assigning tasks and reviewing work for accuracy and completeness.
Prepare detailed fabrication and assembly drawings using CAD software.
Interpret and apply customer specifications, engineering standards, and project requirements.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and project management teams to ensure manufacturability and quality.
Maintain and update drawing standards, templates, and best practices.
Review and approve final drawings before release to the shop flr.
Train and mentor drafting staff to improve technical skills and productivity.
