Birdon is looking for a Draftsperson to join our team in Port Macquarie, NSW!

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The key accountabilities for this role include:

  • 2D and 3D drawings to support production activities.
  • 2D and 3D drawings to support design development and tendering efforts.
  • Maintain technical documentation systems, assist in developing standards and procedures
  • Design data management and manipulation
  • NC Drawing creation
  • Proactively promoting quality, environmental responsibility & safety within the workplace, encouraging an outcome of Birdon being a place of work by choice.
  • Actively participating in the continued growth of the business.Operate SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD Software

QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE

Essential.

  • 5+ years of experience operating CAD programs such as AutoCAD and Solidworks. Proficiency in these packages is essential.
  • Efficient technical drawing and drafting skills
  • Experience in developing detailed structural 3D models and production level 2D drawings.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, technical manuals, and drawings.
  • Ability to manage data related to project documentation beyond drawings using Microsoft Excel.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications at diploma level in a marine, production, or engineering discipline.
  • Experience in engineering and related production activities is considered a positive, but not required.
  • Experience in developing such drawings for marine structures or vessels.
  • Knowledge of marine engineering and design principles, systems, techniques, and industry standardsUnderstanding of Defence and government project documentation standards

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Birdon Engineering team located in Port Macquarie, designs structural shipbuilding, mechanical, marine, naval architecture and electrical technical solutions. The Birdon Engineering team participates in marine ship repair, ship build, dredging and disposal divisions, from tender stage to delivery. Working as part of team, the Birdon Draftsperson is responsible for the development of 2D and 3D drawing artefacts to support ship design and build projects, maintenance of technical documentation systems, design data management and support to Production in build-phase. Experience in Solidworks 3D CAD Software and 5+ years working in a similar marine of construction related industry is essential.
Full time, part time, remote working and 6 + month contract terms will all be considered.
