Norstar prides itself in providing market-leading products that are exceptional on every level. To do this, we need an exceptional team! We are now seeking an experienced 3D CAD Designer to join our Design team in the role of DRAFTSPERSON / DESIGNER.

Reporting to the Design Department Manager, the Draftsperson / Designer will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Designing and developing Norstar Product lines using 3D CAD.
  • Working through all phases of production design, from concept to production drawings (ie. Drafting, dimensioning, stress tests (FEA), etc.)
  • Creating production drawings complete with Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Analyzing designs in order to optimize them for production efficiency, performance in the field and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinating with engineering, production, sales and other stakeholders on projects as required.
  • Assist Production with all design related troubleshooting and inquiries.
  • Support the ongoing innovation of creating reliable products to uphold Norstar quality standards.
  • Work alongside and provide support to other Design Team members as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of a Mechanical Technology program would be a strong asset
  • Previous experience with 3D CAD Design and Autodesk Inventor. Note: AutoCAD experience alone will not be sufficient enough for this position.
  • Experience with grain handling equipment a strong asset
  • Strong computer skills (specifically within MS Office programs and Autodesk Inventor)
  • An understanding of basic manufacturing principles. Previous manufacturing and design experiences will be considered an asset
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently in a busy environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times

    Pay: $1.00-$27.01 per hour
