ABOUT US:

M+G Consulting has been delivering civil and structural engineering services in the construction industry for 25 years. We cover the full spectrum of civil and structural engineering, from small scale housing projects to large scale commercial and residential developments. We are looking for a Civil Engineering draftsperson to join the team.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Diploma or Advanced Diploma in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience
  • Strong ability to understand and produce accurate engineering plans and documentation.
  • Good technical and analytical skills, with the ability to perform fieldwork and support calculations.
  • Familiarity with Australian engineering standards, safety rules, and building regulations.
  • Experience with drafting software and design tools.
  • Practical understanding of construction materials and testing methods.

    Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and develop detailed drawings, plans, sections and diagrams of civil engineering structures based on engineering specifications, standards, and technical calculations.
  • Receive task allocations and drafting schedules under the supervision and direction of the Drafting Manager.
  • Collaborate with professional engineers and technical staff to ensure design documentation complies with project requirements, technical standards, and engineering intent.
  • Revise technical drawings and plans to reflect design changes, engineering feedback, and updates to project specifications.
  • Ensure all drafting outputs are prepared in accordance with applicable building codes, Australian Standards, and internal quality control procedures.
  • Assist in preparing conceptual and detailed design documentation, including sketches, plans, charts, tabulations and technical drawings for infrastructure projects such as drainage systems, sewerage, roads, water supply, bridges, and similar civil works.
  • Interpret work briefs and project instructions, applying established procedures and selecting appropriate drafting tools, software, and methods.
  • Assist in collecting, reviewing and analysing engineering data; perform basic technical computations to support design development.
  • Conduct inspections of civil works and contribute to the coordination and supervision of maintenance, repair or rectification activities.
  • Support field and laboratory investigations of construction materials and soil conditions; assist in collecting and compiling data for traffic and infrastructure surveys.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation, ensuring all design modifications are recorded accurately in project records and drawing registers.
