An opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic Flood Risk and Drainage team as a Drainage Engineer. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to support the Drainage Manager and design, manage, and oversee drainage projects that mitigate flood risks and enhance the county’s drainage systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and implement land and highway drainage schemes.
  • Conduct detailed assessments and inspections of drainage systems to identify outstanding works.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, documentation, and budgetary information.
  • Manage capital works programmes, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors and consultants to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide technical, structural, and contractual input into drainage design maintenance and assessment.
  • Contribute to Development Control and SAB and assist in delivering key Council projects.
  • Formulate and implement Drainage Capital and Maintenance Contracts, Asset Management Plans, and Works Programmes.
  • Communicate effectively through technical documentation, as well as verbally and in writing

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional experience in drainage design and flood risk management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage and other relevant software.
  • Strong understanding of drainage regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the County Borough.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential.
