The opportunity Our Whanganui team is looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Skilled Labourer/Drainlayer’s Assistant. You’ll be supporting Three Waters projects (drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater) alongside other regional infrastructure works. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, collaborating with a team, and being out and about on bustling work sites, you’ll also: Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of water and drainage pipelines. Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic machinery for trenching, pipe placement, and general site activities Operate equipment to Excavate, backfill, and compact trenches according to engineering and roading standards Help inspect, clean, test and repair drains, and be part of connecting homes and businesses to vital local water networks. Ensure safety protocols are followed and work closely with our engineers, construction crews, and local authorities. To be successful in this role, you will: Previous experience in civil works, drain laying, plumbing, roading, or similar environments is highly valued. Understanding how to use hand and power tools, perform groundwork, and read basic site plans.
