Job Summary
The Disability Resource Centre (DRC) is a resource and a service centre that facilitates academic accommodations for students with disabilities and/or chronic medical conditions. One of the services that the DRC provides is exam supervision. DRC Exam Invigilators provide invigilation for UBCO students’ exams in a small group, private, and online environments. Students who write exams with the DRC are from all faculties and departments at UBC’s Okanagan campus.
Organizational Status
The DRC is comprised of a Manager, 1 Receptionist, 1 Administrative Assistant, 5 Accessibility Advisors, 1 Programs and Operations Coordinator, and 4 Exam Coordinators. This position reports to the Programs and Operations Coordinator.
Work Performed
1. Supervise/invigilate exams according to UBC policies and DRC procedures and guidelines.
2. Administer exam accommodations to students as directed by the DRC.
3. Maintain exam security in accordance with UBC policy and DRC protocols.
4. Other duties related to the preparation of exam material within the DRC.
5. Exams may be invigilated in the online environment and/or in-person environment as required.
6. Other duties related to and in support of the exam administration processes as directed by DRC staff.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Invigilators deal with unique situations that require sound judgment, good understanding of the policies and practices guiding their work, and an ability to make sound decisions. Any errors in decision could potentially have operational, legal, and financial repercussions for the faculty, students, staff, and the department.
Diplomacy is required when interacting with faculty and staff. All information must be accurate and provided in a respectful, timely and supportive way. The confidentiality and security of the information being handled and discussed is of utmost importance. Failure to provide service that meets these standards may create hardships for students with disabilities seeking academic Accommodation, compromise the relationship of the Disability Resource Centre with service consumers who may experience marginalization or disadvantage as a result of the interaction, or negatively impact the public image of the unit and University.
Supervision Received
Invigilators report to the Programs and Operations Coordinator, and the day-to-day management of schedules and duties is be managed by the Exam Coordinator team. Invigilators do not supervise other staff.

Education:
Preference is given to graduate students who have a TA assignment as per the collective agreement.
