POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Men’s Dressed-Casual Designer plays a pivotal role in developing seasonal collections that align with Tommy Hilfiger’s brand DNA and current market trends. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of apparel design, garment construction, and fabrications, with an ongoing commitment to expanding expertise. The Designer will report directly to the Head of Dressed-Casual Design and will collaborate with other team members to build four seasonal Dressed-Casual lifestyle collections. Additionally, the role will focus on the development of the classification shirt business, working closely with the Head of Design to ensure successful execution of the vision.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Apparel Design Knowledge: A strong foundation in garment construction, fabrications, and finishing techniques, with a continuous desire to develop and enhance knowledge of advanced design practices.
  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Ability to identify, analyze, and solve design challenges using industry best practices and standard procedures.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and other digital design tools to create sketches, technical packages, and presentations.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster effective relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure design concepts align with business goals.
  • Education & Experience: A degree in fashion design or a related field, with 2-4 years of relevant work experience, or a post-secondary degree with 5-8 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Guidance & Development: Ability to work independently on routine tasks while seeking guidance on more complex assignments. A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Design Pattern Experience (Easyweave or Illustrator): Familiarity with design patterns in Easyweave or Illustrator is a plus, though not mandatory.
Responsibilities
  • Trend Research & Inspiration: Conduct thorough market research and analyze fashion trends to support the development of innovative seasonal design concepts.
  • Design Execution: Create detailed technical sketches, mood boards, and fabric selections, ensuring alignment with brand identity and commercial goals.
  • Classification Shirt Development: Lead the design process for classification shirts, from pattern development to final product, ensuring a high standard of quality and fit.
  • Material & Fabric Coordination: Collaborate with fabric teams to select materials that align with Tommy Hilfiger’s quality standards, sustainability goals, and market demands.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with merchandising, product development, and suppliers to translate creative concepts into production-ready designs.
  • Fit & Construction Development: Participate in fit sessions and collaborate with technical teams to refine garment construction, ensuring optimal fit and functionality for the Dressed-Casual line.
  • Process & Efficiency Improvement: Continuously review and implement standard design procedures and best practices to streamline workflows and improve product development efficiency.
