YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY

Boral is seeking an experienced Drill and Blast operator, to join our Quarries team and work across various sites within metro Melbourne and regional areas across Victoria.
Reporting to the Drill & Blast Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the required drill and blast objectives are delivered in a safe and efficient manner, preparation and detonation of the blasts as well technical service works.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Duties:
  • Safely load and tie up explosives, initiate blasting, and manage exclusion zones.
  • Use geological and blast design principles to shape safe and effective blasts.
  • Conduct thorough post-blast inspections (e.g. checking for misfires, unstable rock, fumes)
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Prepare or comply with Blast Management Plans (BMPs) per AS 2187.2 standards.
  • Ensure exclusion zones, risk assessments, and environmental controls are in place.
  • Mitigate hazards such as fly-rock, delayed (“sleeping”) shots, and misfires.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation, drill logs, video/drone records, loading sheets etc.
  • Bore tracking and quality control works to be conducted and documented.
  • Supervisory & Competence of a Blast Hole Surveyor:
  • Survey and design blast holes and extraction areas
  • Operate modern surveying equipment GPS rover, laser scanners.
  • Generate site maps, 3D models, and assist with machine guidance systems using (GPS drilling)
  • Ensure compliance with statutory survey requirements
