Responsibilities

THE ROLE & PROJECT

MACA is on the hunt for a Drill & Blast Engineer to join our mining business at the Gruyere Gold Project on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.
The Gruyere Gold Mine is an open pit operation located within the Yamarna greenstone belt approximately 200 kilometres east of Laverton in Western Australia.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will assist with mine scheduling and planning to meet both client requirements and MACA production rates. You will also provide ongoing development of mine plans, methods, design, materials handling and cost analysis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with short-term mine scheduling and planning to meet client requirements and MACA tender production rates, with a focus on drill and blast integration.
  • Design, implement and monitor drill and blast patterns to achieve safe, efficient and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop team members.
  • Produce and submit monthly progress claims in an effective and timely manner.
  • Facilitate drill and blast activities on-site, ensuring alignment with production schedules and safety standards.
  • Provide technical input into blast optimisation, vibration control, wall control and explosive product selection.
  • Review drill and blast claims, sub-contractor claims and design submissions.
  • Develop, enhance and maintain professional relationships with key client contacts and site personnel.
  • Monitor and analyse drill and blast performance data, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with management and suppliers regarding new/available drill and blast technology, products and practices.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement and innovation of MACA work practices.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL POSSESS:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering).
  • Experience in an open pit mining environment.
  • Proficient with Vulcan, BlastLogic & Shotplus
  • Sound knowledge of plant and equipment best practice and operational performance to meet production targets in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse and show initiative and meet deadlines.
  • A strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
  • Current WA driver’s licence
