Major Oild and Gas client in Australia seeking 4 x experienced Drilling Fluid Engineers for onshore work commencing September for 4 to 6 months.
Have Australian work rights OR be willing to apply for a work visa ASAP – visa holders will be expected to work long hitches with reset days in between.
The Drilling Fluids Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the drilling fluid (mud) programs used during oil and gas drilling operations. The role involves monitoring fluid properties, ensuring wellbore stability, minimizing formation damage, and supporting safe and efficient drilling operations. The engineer works closely with drilling teams, service providers, and geologists to adapt fluid systems to changing downhole conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain fluid systems associated with drilling of wells as per specs
  • Design and maintain drilling fluid systems based on well design and geological data.
  • Monitor and analyze fluid properties (e.g., viscosity, density, pH, solids content) on-site.
  • Troubleshoot fluid-related issues and recommend adjustments to optimize performance.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with drilling supervisors and third-party service companies.
  • Prepare technical reports and maintain detailed records of fluid performance.
  • Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience in drilling fluid systems and wellbore hydraulics preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work on-site, including offshore or remote locations.
