Job Details Job Location: TX-Abilene Corps - Abilene, TX 79602 Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More Education Level: High School Diploma/GED Salary Range: $10.58 - $13.22 Hourly Travel Percentage: Greater than 50% Job Shift: Any Job Category: Social Services Schedule/Hours: M – F 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (30 hours per week) This position is responsible for: Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from various locations; ensures proper maintenance of vehicles. This job description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position. The incumbent may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this job description. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Drives a Salvation Army vehicle in order to transport passengers to and from various locations; organizes transportation by most direct routes to save time and fuel consumption. Picks up and delivers miscellaneous items as needed. Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers. Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space. Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use. Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur. Ensures the vehicle meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operator’s maintenance in accordance with established standards. Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards. Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Physical Requirements: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing. Ability to drive a box truck safely and in compliance with laws, policies, and regulations. Duties require frequent periods of physical mobility including but not limited to standing, walking, climbing, bending, squatting, and lifting. Physical duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting. Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects (more than 50 lbs.) frequently.
