Responsibilities

John Hunter Hospital is seeking a dedicated Patient Transport Officer (PTO) to provide safe, timely, and effective transport for Hunter Retrieval Service staff and patients requiring inter-facility transport and ensure that appropriate standards of care are provided. When not required for retrieval duties, the successful applicant is required to work as a multi-skilled member of the John Hunter Hospital to provide non-clinical support within the Critical Care areas of the campus to complement the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient care.

Duties will include:

  • Undertake manual handling including pushing stretcher and leading stretcher into inter-facility vehicle
  • Adhere to all RTA road rules
  • Maintain vehicles in a roadworthy condition in accordance with the HNELHD Motor Vehicle Policy
  • Manage stock levels
  • Couriering items to/from departments within the John Hunter Hospital
