Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to rescue food from retail donors and deliver food to agency partners. This position also fulfills orders, loads, unloads and receives product. Acts as a representative of Care and Share to our retail donors and partner agencies. Ensures compliance with Feeding America, the American Institute of Baking (AIB), and other regulatory agencies. This is a temporary position expected to end in January 20226. This position is full-time Mon-Fri. This position may be asked to cover in other facilities in Colorado Springs, and occasionally Alamosa. Duties/Responsibilities: Operates a box truck, safely maneuvers trucks into tight and/or small loading and unloading areas, and completes daily routes in a timely manner. May navigate through inclement weather. Loads and unloads pallets of food, using a forklift and pallet jack. Weighs and sorts all retail donations and completes documentation using an Incoming Product Donation (IPD) form. Reviews the manifest to ensure all pallets are loaded. Receives and prepares products for transfer. Down stacks and secures pallets to ensure efficient storage and transport. Accurately and quickly fulfill partner agency orders. Manually gathers and stacks all the products listed on the order sheet onto pallets. Ensures pallets are secure, well-balanced, and labeled. Works with the Distribution Center Manager to conduct biannual physical inventory. Communicates product quality issues. Operates a standing forklift and pallet jack. Safely maneuvers equipment within an active warehouse. Observes all of Care and Share's warehouse safety guidelines. Assists with Onboarding and training of new employees. Collaborates with and supports other employees in the distribution center to promote an innovative team environment. Maintains extensive knowledge of the food storage and safety standards set by Feeding America, the American Institute of Baking (AIB), and other regulatory agencies. Assists the Distribution Center Manager with meeting these standards. Ensures all required documentation is accurate and complete. Routinely checks oil, water, gasoline, and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to the Distribution Center Manager. Documents pre- and post-trip inspections. Maintains a positive relationship with our retail donors and partner agencies. Represents Care and Share, helps to resolve concerns, and communicates issues to the main office. Requirements Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams). High attention to detail. Ability to communicate. Must be willing to be a participating member of a high-performing team. Ability to deescalate and provide good customer service. Must have astute awareness of surroundings and make quick decisions. Extensive knowledge of the rules of the road. Must be able to receive and maintain a forklift certification. Must be comfortable using various equipment including but not limited to pallet jack (electric and manual), shrink wrap machine, and power washer. Must be able to receive and maintain a ServSafe® Food Handler Certification. Education and Experience: Previous professional driving experience preferred. Familiarity with Pueblo, Colorado Springs and surrounding counties preferred. Warehouse/distribution center experience preferred. Experience operating a standing forklift highly preferred. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of time driving, walking, standing, lifting and operating a forklift. Periods of time working in very cold temperatures, including in a large freezer, cooler, and in Colorado weather. Must be willing to work nights or weekends occasionally for special events. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently. Travel Requirements: Must possess a valid state issued driver's license and maintain a clean driving record. Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) Class B is required, Class A is preferred. Must maintain a Medical Card/Medical Examiner’s Certificate by an FMCSA-approved provider, if a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) is held. Access to a reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel is preferred. Must maintain personal automobile insurance that meets company minimum coverage requirements, if a personal vehicle is used for work-related travel.
