Job Summary:
The hotel driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for hotel guests, staff, and management. This includes driving hotel vehicles to transport guests to and from the hotel, airports, local attractions, or other destinations as needed. The driver ensures that the vehicle is in good working condition, performs basic maintenance tasks, and delivers an excellent guest experience by providing courteous, prompt, and professional service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transporting Guests:
- Drive hotel guests to and from various locations, including airports, local attractions, shopping areas, or other destinations requested by guests.
- Ensure all guests are transported safely and in comfort, adhering to traffic laws and safety standards.
- Provide luggage assistance for guests when necessary and ensure their comfort during transport.
- Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness:
- Maintain the vehicle in good working condition by performing routine checks, such as checking oil, tire pressure, brakes, and fuel levels.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean and tidy, both inside and out, before and after each trip.
- Report any maintenance or repair issues to management promptly and schedule necessary repairs.
- Ensure that the vehicle is fully stocked with essentials (e.g., water, tissues, umbrellas) for guest convenience.
- Guest Interaction and Customer Service:
- Greet guests with a friendly and professional attitude, providing assistance with entry and exit from the vehicle.
- Communicate clearly with guests, answering any questions they may have about local attractions, dining, or hotel services.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of guests during their journey, adjusting driving speed and conditions according to the situation.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Abide by all local traffic laws and regulations, ensuring safe and legal driving practices at all times.
- Ensure the vehicle is equipped with necessary safety equipment (e.g., seat belts, fire extinguisher, first-aid kit).
- Ensure the safety of passengers by driving defensively and avoiding hazardous driving conditions.
- Follow hotel policies and procedures, including those related to guest privacy and confidentiality.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance.
- Record guest transportation requests, time of departure/arrival, and any special requirements (e.g., accessibility needs).
- Report any incidents, accidents, or unusual circumstances to the supervisor or hotel management.
- Assistance with Hotel Operations:
- Assist with deliveries or pickups as needed, including transporting goods, supplies, or documents between hotel locations.
- May be asked to support hotel staff or management by running errands or performing other related tasks.
- Support guest services during peak times, ensuring the smooth operation of transportation services.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the hotel manager or supervisor, which may include supporting other departments during busy periods or assisting with special guest requests.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
- Excellent Driving Skills: Ability to drive safely and efficiently in various traffic and weather conditions.
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide excellent service to guests and staff.
- Knowledge of Local Area: Familiarity with local roads, attractions, and services to assist guests with recommendations and directions.
- Dependability: Reliability in adhering to schedules and being available for transport requests, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to sit for extended periods, lift luggage, and assist guests with their belongings.
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring the vehicle is always in top condition and that guest needs are met with care and efficiency.
- Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, such as navigating while ensuring guest comfort and safety.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as a driver, chauffeur, or in a related customer service role is advantageous.
- Additional certification or training in defensive driving, first aid, or hospitality services may be preferred.
Working Conditions:
- The driver is typically required to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The job involves extended periods of driving, sometimes in heavy traffic or challenging road conditions.
- Depending on the type of vehicle, the driver may be required to assist with loading and unloading luggage or equipment.
- Occasional overnight trips may be required, depending on the hotel’s needs and the distance of transport.
