Description COMMUNITY ACTION WAYNE/MEDINA An Equal Opportunity Employer POSITION DESCRIPTION Date Adopted: 10/29/2024 JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a part-time professional driver to transport passengers to and from work, medical appointments, and long-term care facilities. The schedule may vary based on operational needs and is subject to change. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and flexibility in accommodating clients' needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION: Safely operate agency vehicles on assigned routes, transporting clients to work, medical appointments, or medical care facilities. Assist passengers with mobility aids such as walkers and wheelchairs, ensuring safe entry and exit from the vehicle. Maintain accurate and detailed logs of trip data, including mileage, time records, and passenger information for reporting to funders. Comply with all safety requirements, including adherence to OSHA standards and company policies related to vehicle operation and passenger safety. Follow all state and local driving laws and always ensure safe vehicle operation. Distracted driving, including texting, is strictly prohibited. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Position: Driver (contract) Reports To: CEO/President Employment Classification: Part Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Requirements Minimum qualifications include: High school diploma or equivalent. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. Valid State of Ohio driver’s license, with the ability to be insured under the Agency’s vehicle insurance policy. Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and assist with transportation of mobility aids for applicable clients. Strict adherence to the agency’s no-smoking policy in all vehicles. Ability to navigate changing addresses and meet scheduled pick-up and drop-off times. Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes and client needs as they arise. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset to represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner. Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and maintain positive working relationships. Personal qualities of integrity, humility, a positive attitude, self-motivation, and a commitment to the mission of CAWM. Working Conditions: This position requires regular operation of an agency vehicle, with travel to various client locations. Drivers must comply with all state and local driving laws and always ensure the safe operation of the vehicle. Distracted driving, including texting, is strictly prohibited. Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.
