Position Overview
The Driver/Forklift Operator is responsible for safely loading, unloading, and transporting materials within our precast facility, including using a Mixer Truck to move concrete from the onsite batch plant to the production area. Key duties include performing equipment inspections and maintenance, assisting with inventory management, and maintaining a clean work area. The operator will also be able to communicate effectively with team members and participate in safety initiatives to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
Payrate: Starting wage of $25/hour with a raise to $28/hour after probation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift to load, unload, and transport materials and products around the precast concrete manufacturing facility.
  • Operate a Concrete Mixer Truck to move concrete efficiently from the batch plant to the production area.
  • Safely handle, transport, and place materials in designated storage areas.
  • Perform pre and post inspections and maintenance on forklift equipment to ensure proper functioning at the start and end of shifts.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Assist in other areas of the production process as needed, such as preparing materials, assisting with inventory management, and other general labour.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain a clean work area to ensure safe operation of equipment.
  • Loads goods onto conveyer belts for movement around the plant.
  • Stack crates, pallets, lumber, or other material following safe storage operating procedures.
  • Ensure all loads are centered and properly stacked to avoid.
  • Determines when repairs need to be made on equipment.
  • Participate in all safety initiatives including, but not limited to wearing PPE, safety meetings, incident reporting, safe work practices/procedures, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid class 3 drivers license and clean drivers abstract. Candidates with experience operating a manual transmission are strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse, production facility, or manufacturing plant.
  • Prior experience as a forklift operator.
  • Forklift or heavy machinery certification.

Physical Demands
The position is physical in nature and requires bending, crawling, crouching, and standing for long periods of time. Materials are heavy and cumbersome. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.

Hours of Work

  • This position is Full Time and operates on a Monday to Friday schedule with Saturdays frequently required.
  • Overtime may be required to support operations from time to time, especially during the busy construction season
