Driver   Department: Food Service                      Reports to: Director of Food Services FLSA Status: Non-Exempt  Supervises: 0                               Job Summary:  The driver is responsible for transporting food in a timely and efficient manner. This includes picking up food, navigating to the school’s location, and ensuring the food arrives safely and at the correct temperature. Essential duties and responsibilities: * Package, accurately count, and load food into vehicles according to local food safety standards. * Deliver meals to specified locations on time by assisting with the planning of efficient routes to minimize delivery times, considering traffic and other factors. * Accurately record delivery details, collecting signatures, and customer feedback on Daily Delivery Sheets. * Safely operate and maintain any GCI vehicle in a clean, road-ready condition by completing required vehicle checks.  * Promptly report and escalate any safety concerns, damage, mechanical issues, or maintenance needs in accordance with GCI procedures, and refrain from operating the vehicle if conditions pose a safety risk until the issue is addressed. * Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations. * Provide friendly and professional customer service, addressing any questions or concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction. * Pick up will call orders as needed. * Transport food items between Guadalupe Centers and Guadalupe Education System locations as needed. * Exercise situational awareness by being alert to your surroundings and avoiding unsafe areas during deliveries. * Attend and complete required job-related training classes, meetings, and workshops. * Assist kitchen staff as needed. * Other duties as assigned.    Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.   Required Qualifications: * High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required * Valid driver's license and ability to deliver or pick up the food-related product * Must be able to pass a background check, physical, and drug/alcohol screening * KCMO Food Handler’s Permit mandatory (must be attained within 30 days) * Ability to lift, pull, or haul up to 40 pounds without assistance. * Ability to perform work in extreme weather conditions, like cold environments, including freezer and refrigerator * Ability to manage multiple deliveries, prioritize tasks, and meet time deadlines. * Knowledge of community diversity and cultural dynamics. * Ability to work in a non-judgmental way with a diverse range of people, maintaining a respectful and inclusive culture.   Preferred Qualifications: * Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency   Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.   This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, dexterity, agility, balance, and crouching. Exposure to varying temperatures, such as heat from ovens or cold conditions when retrieving items from freezers, is a regular part of the job. Occasionally, employees may work near contaminants and hazardous equipment.
