Job Title:          Driver Helper (Seasonal)   Department: Donated Goods Program (DGP)   Reports to:       Transportation Area Manager   FLSA Status:    Non-Exempt     Mission Support: Goodwill Houston (GWH) is transforming lives by connecting people to opportunities that advance the future of work. With the generous support of our donors and retail customers, we are changing lives through the power of work.   Position Summary: Supports the Transportation Team and dock operations by assisting with loading, unloading, sorting, and moving goods and equipment. Helps ensure the safe, timely, and efficient flow of merchandise between GWH locations during peak periods while maintaining quality, safety, and GWH standards.    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Demonstrate GWH’s Core Values in all actions. • Assist drivers with the safe loading and unloading of goods, equipment, salvage, etc., at all GWH locations. • Assist with properly loading cargo, ensuring the load is secured and ready for transport.  • Assist with delivery and pickup operations to ensure timely and efficient route completion.  • Handle and move merchandise safely by using proper lifting techniques and material-handling equipment as needed.  • Assist in sorting donated goods into appropriate categories based on GWH guidelines. • Support the processing operation by handling equipment and maintaining product flow with a sense of urgency.  • Help maintain accurate counts and support production goals as assigned. • Ensure proper rotation of goods and assist in maintaining product flow.  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of trucks, docks, and other workspaces.  • Assist with completing required logs and paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.  • Maintain communication with drivers and supervisors regarding loading and unloading needs and route progress.  • Report all accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, equipment issues, and near misses immediately. • Performs other duties as assigned by management.   Additional Responsibilities • Demonstrate professionalism, good judgment, and present a friendly, cooperative attitude.  • Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, adapt to change, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.  • Adheres to all GWH Policies & Procedures, Loss Prevention & Safety Regulations, and GWH Guiding Principles.  • Must be punctual, maintain a professional appearance, and perform expected duties. • Maintain a high level of confidentiality. • Must perform all duties according to GWH safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping standards, and ensure all walkways are clear and free of clutter. • Adheres to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.   Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety instructions, standard operating procedures, and workplace communications. • Ability to work independently. • Must have reliable transportation. • Ability to multitask, make quick decisions, and work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment. • Must have punctual and dependable attendance. • Free from alcohol and drugs. • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for current or future employment. GWH does not offer visa sponsorship for employment purposes.    Key Performance Indicators (KPI): 1. Efficient loading and unloading operations.  2. Productivity and support of route completion. 3. Work Integrity: Follows established procedures and processes donations timely with a sense of urgency. 4. Quality of Work: Attitude, sense of urgency, productivity, individual safety performance, etc. 5. Safety Culture. 6. Attendance: Work schedule as assigned, notify leadership as needed, and no recurring issues.   Physical Requirements/Work Environment: • Regular twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and, occasionally, lift/move items up to 100 lbs. (e.g., large bags of donations, televisions, furniture, etc.)  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. • Moderate indoor noise with periodic exposure to outside temperatures.   I understand this job description and requirements, and I am expected to complete all assigned duties.
