If so, Tacoma Rescue Mission (TRM) is seeking a Driver (Non-CDL for Bus/Truck) for our Temporary Winter Shelter to be on a team that carries out our mission. We provide emergency services such as shelter and meals to neighbors experiencing homelessness. Job Purpose Provides transportation services for temporary shelters and other TRM needs. Provides flexible scheduling options when working with community members and TRM programs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Transports clients to and from TRM campuses using a scheduled route. Transports goods to support the needs of the program (e.g. linens, garbage, supplies). Performs duties necessary for the upkeep of TRM vehicles (i.e. performs safety inspections, maintains accurate vehicle log, keeps vehicles washed and cleaned, ensures there is sufficient fuel in vehicles, and reports safety or repair concerns to the supervisor). Maintains professional communication with clients, donors, businesses, volunteers, and interns. Embodies the values that form our culture to meet the organization’s mission of sharing God’s love, hope, and support with our neighbors in need to uplift communities. Performs other duties as assigned to support others and ensure an efficient and effective work environment. Working Conditions Occasionally works outdoors in inclement weather. Drives large box truck and small transit bus. Operates small equipment with dexterity. Schedule & Work Location Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm Primary Location of Work: Temporary Seasonal Winter Shelter 2316 Jefferson Street Tacoma, WA 98402 Requirements Minimum 3 years’ experience driving a 6 ton or larger delivery truck and/or small transit bus. Ability to operate the following equipment: box truck with hydraulic tail gate, forklift, trash compactor, small engine equipment, small electrical tools, hand truck, and pallet jack. Forklift Certified, preferred. Ability to prioritize driving time and respond positively to schedule changes as directed. Ability to work with diverse populations, demonstrating compassionate understanding. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment using effective and thoughtful interactions and communication. Skilled in clear and effective written, verbal, and electronic communication. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs. Basic math and grammar skills. Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability. Acceptable driving record. Successful completion of TRM driving test. Physical Requirements Stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. Occasionally operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Communicates information and ideas so others will understand. Exchanges accurate information in these situations. Observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). Frequently moves boxes or items weighing up to 50 pounds for various needs. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Operates a box truck, vehicle (12-passenger van), forklift, and other machinery or equipment. Wears proper PPE (personal protective equipment) when necessary for exposure control. Benefits This is a non-benefit eligible position, due to this being a Temporary Seasonal position.
