Our South division has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality work nationwide. We are looking for an experienced or up-and-coming Driver Operator (Class 4 or 5) to join our Wellington team. In this role, you’ll primarily operate Class 4 trucks supporting pavement and construction activities, working across a variety of construction, renewal, and maintenance projects. We also have a brand-new Class 5 truck & trailer unit within the wider business that requires reliable cover. For this reason, we’re looking for someone who is either: * Already Class 5 licensed, or  * A Class 4 operator willing and able to progress to Class 5 with support  When required, you’ll step in to operate the Class 5 unit, transporting heavy plant such as mills, paving machines, and rollers between sites - playing a key role in keeping operations moving. This is a great opportunity to grow your skillset while being part of a supportive, high-performing crew.   Ngā pūkenga matua | Important Skills You will be a reliable, safety-focused operator who takes pride in your work. You’ll also bring: • Full Class 4 licence (minimum required), Class 5 highly regarded • Willingness to step up to Class 5 (training/support available for the right person) • Experience operating trucks in civil/roading environments (preferred) • WTR endorsements (advantageous but not essential) • Good spatial awareness and confidence manoeuvring in tight or active work sites • Experience reversing, tipping, and positioning trucks safely on-site • Strong commitment to health & safety practices • A positive attitude and willingness to support the wider crew • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors • Flexibility with working hours when required   Ko wai mātou | Our Organisation  Want to know more about what it is like to work at Downer?
