Job DetailsJob Location: Long Beach Headquarters - Long Beach, CA 90810Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 SalaryJob Category: TransportationThis Driver Supervisor oversees Class A employee drivers and serves as the liaison with Independent Contractor drivers. This position will monitor driver performance, verify proper training, and ensure driver safety/compliance. Major Responsibilities: Oversee employee Class A truck drivers; serve as liaison for Independent Contractor Drivers Audit driver productivity and verify conformance with department expectations Responsible for ensuring new drivers are properly trained for dispatch and manage continuation training of all drivers. Direct driver trainers in initial, periodic, post incident training, and other skill development. Ride with drivers and coach on proper delivery and driving techniques to include reinforcing company safety initiatives, customer relations and overall performance. Create, promote, and maintain a culture of safety; ensure the regular review of safety policies and SOPs with personnel; SOP creation, maintenance, and review Manages VTC OmniTracs Network for Transportation for federal ELD conformance. Monitor drivers Hours of Service (HOS) daily to ensure compliance. Issue discipline & corrective actions as needed. Liaison support between Safety and Transportation Departments for any process/consulting with new hire training, ongoing training, DOT compliance and incident investigation. Lead the engagement and disengagement of Independent Contract drivers. Travel to remote locations to assist in training, hiring, business growth, incident investigation and maintaining company standard. Other duties as assigned to support VTC and the Transportation Department. QualificationsRequirements and Qualifications: High School Diploma. Undergraduate degree or certification in Communications, Operations, Supply Chain Management or similar preferred Minimum 3 years experience working in a Transportation, Distribution, or Logistics operation Must have a Class A CDL with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements, and maintain a current medical card Must be able to multi task in a fast paced, constantly changing environment Strong Interpersonal Communications with strong oral and written communications skills. Transportation experience in dispatch and/or operations supervision a plus Detail oriented with an ability to positively influence others across multiple groups An ability to work independently relying on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish tasks An ability to manage a remote work force Knowledge of electronic transportation platforms and software In depth knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations Ability to maintain effective performance under pressure Leadership skills include the ability to motivate and influence others, focus on teamwork, and an emphasis on continuous improvement. Proficiency with PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, Project is a plus for this position. Must be self-motivated with good critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills. Must be organized Physical requirements: Must be available to work long hours from time to time or to work outside normal scheduled work hours, for example to respond to emergency events. Must be on call 24/7 Able to work in an office and field environment Must be able to wear, operate, and utilize personal protective equipment such as respirators and fall protection Able to lift and carry heavy hoses, fittings, and other equipment weighing up to 55 pounds. Able to crawl underneath and climb on top of railcars, containers, and tank trailers. Able to sit or stand for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, bend, reach, push, pull, stoop, squat, and climb, as necessary to perform vehicle inspections and load/unload cargo. Able to connect heavy 20 ft long chemical hoses underneath and on top of railcars. This often requires lifting and pulling while in an awkward body position. Able to operate valves that may be difficult to open or close. Able to work outdoors and tolerate extreme weather conditions such as rain, heat, or cold
