Description

Martin Transportation Systems is seeking a qualified 1st shift Driver Support Coordinator located in our Byron Center, Michigan headquarters. This position will be responsible for the managing and monitoring of our company driver compliance activities, which include auditing driver eLogs, helping drivers manage hours of service logging issues, assist in the management and tracking of driver performance bonus statistics, coordinating on-the-road equipment breakdowns, and scheduling the equipment for quick and cost-efficient repairs.
Applicants will be working closely with drivers to ensure proper procedures and notifications are followed. Candidates need to possess excellent communications and computer skills (Microsoft Office), be multi-task oriented, and enjoy a fast-paced work environment.
This is a full-time, in office position. Training will be done on 1st shift Monday through Friday, before being moved to the off shift.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of geography and can understand transportation routing.
  • Experience in a trucking environment beneficial, including knowledge of electronic logs, hours of service rules, etc.
  • Skilled in phone etiquette and customer service
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Logistics experience a plus,
  • Knowledge of basic FMCSA regulations
  • 2 years of semi-truck & trailer maintenance/Mechanical experience preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Audit drivers’ electronic logs for compliance to HOS regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain electronic documentation for audit findings.
  • Assist drivers and dispatchers with hours-of-service compliance, eLog issues, and other areas of monitoring.
  • Perform audits including Speed Gauge, DVIR compliance, roadside inspections, and fuel mileage.
  • Perform research as directed.
  • Assign unidentified driver movements to appropriate drivers.
  • Ability to understand and interpret FMCSA regulations in accordance with hours-of-service regulations.
  • Act as a team player within the Compliance Department and with other departments to ensure that the Compliance Work Plan is implemented.
  • Actively participate in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate
  • Assist drivers with breakdown needs, accidents, and emergencies by either routing them to terminals or coordinating roadside repairs.
  • Arrange breakdown services by locating authorized vendors within proximity to ensure minimum waiting time, competitive pricing, and quality repairs.
  • Communicate any service disruptions and route changes due to down equipment.
  • Identify warrantable repairs and file claims with the appropriate vendor(s) or manufacturer(s) as needed.
  • Maintain contact with vendor(s) during repair to ensure specific requirements are being met.
  • Update all parties regarding progress toward completion of repairs.
  • Coordinate payment methods to vendors.
