PVC Building Supplies is an independent Plumbing & Heating merchant, privately owned and established in 1973. We are looking to recruit a new driver team leader for our expanding business. We are currently running out of four depots with the review to opening depot five in 2026. Our busy warehouses never stops running 21 hours a day and we rely on every single employee to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Responsibilities
  • Lead, motivate, and support the driver team to meet company standards and performance targets.
  • Conduct daily team briefings to communicate business requirements and new processes, documenting these sessions.
  • Handle driver queries, vehicle issues, and provide solutions or escalate as needed.
  • Organize and suggest team-building activities to enhance morale and cohesion.
  • Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings and performance development reviews, ensuring documentation is up to date.
  • Operational Duties:
  • Prepare for the day by liaising with the charge hand to open premises early and authorize early driver releases in coordination with Depot Manager or Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with daily vehicle checks, tyre pressure monitoring, HGV hours, mileage logs, and vehicle cleanliness.
  • Ensure PRE drop routes are followed; communicate delays to Customer Service Team promptly.
  • Manage returns by reporting to the Goods-In team and ensuring correct procedures are followed.
  • Oversee the secure parking and handling of vehicles during and after deliveries.
  • Training & Compliance:
  • Train new drivers to the company’s high standards, ensuring readiness for solo operation.
  • Ensure all drivers comply with Health & Safety regulations, including PPE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with CPC regulations and arrange annual CPC courses for drivers.
  • Enforce tachograph laws, including mandatory breaks and monthly downloads of driver cards and vehicle tachographs.
  • Ensure all drivers comply with FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) rules and regulations.
  • Vehicle & Equipment Management:
  • Ensure all company vehicles are washed bi-weekly in coordination with the wash team.
  • Arrange for vehicle maintenance, MOTs, services, and PMI checks on schedule.
  • Manage weekly spare parts inventory and coordinate ordering with head office.
  • Ensure vehicles are secure when unattended and keys are always with the driver.
  • Collaboration & Reporting:
  • Work closely with Depot Manager, Branch Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, and Warehouse Team Leader to ensure smooth operations and adherence to policies.
  • Report any operational issues, delays, or incidents promptly.
  • Assist with resetting the company alarm system if required.
  • Ensure all paperwork is correctly signed, or if unsigned, proper photo evidence is recorded and communicated via company channels.
