We are seeking a proactive, field-oriented Safety Advisor to support our operations in the Alberta region. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about safety, comfortable working independently, and thrives in a dynamic, on-the-ground environment. As a key member of our team, you will work directly with drivers, terminal staff, and leadership to drive a culture of accountability, risk prevention, and continuous improvement.
This position involves a strong field presence. While there are administrative responsibilities, the majority of your time will be spent engaging with frontline teams, conducting coaching sessions, responding to incidents, and identifying safety opportunities in real time. THE INDIVIDUAL AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three years’ related safety experience in the transportation industry
  • Ability to be on call to attend to incidents that occur – flexibility is important!
  • Class AZ driver’s license is considered an asset
  • H2S and First Aid certifications an asset
  • Overnight travel to various sites may be required (incident response)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient written communication skills to accurately articulate the events, results and investigation of incidents to both internal and external audiences
  • Good working knowledge of the transportation industry and its operation with knowledge of a variety of commodities, including dangerous goods
  • Proficient in a Windows system environment
  • OH&S Certificate or courses is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the dispatch system, TMW is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Be present in the field. Conduct coaching-focused safe behavior observations, covert assessments, competency evaluations, and in-person driver mentorship aligned with established KPIs.
  • Lead incident response and investigations. Provide first-response support, lead root cause analysis, and contribute to corrective action planning that prevents recurrence.
  • Train with purpose. Support onboarding and refresher training for drivers and operations staff in partnership with the safety and dispatch teams.
  • Coach through compliance. Guide drivers and field staff on safe loading/unloading practices, hazardous materials handling, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Own field risk identification. Address hazards proactively by working with operations, leadership, and customers to implement practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Support the Drug and Alcohol program. Serve as an internal collector and promote safety-focused substance awareness with professionalism and discretion.
  • Engage with our teams and customers. Help align safety priorities with day-to-day dispatch needs and identify opportunities to support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
