We are seeking a highly motivated Drop Crew Foreman to join our team and contribute to the efficiency and growth of our operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Drop Crew Foreman will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our drop crew operations by overseeing daily tasks, ensuring safety, and delivering efficient results on each work site.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Field Construction Experience: Proven experience in field construction, particularly in the telecom industry.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read utility locates and work with construction approvals for builds.
  • Supervisory Experience: Previous leadership or supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively direct the crew and report to management.
  • Equipment Proficiency: Experience operating 1-ton trucks, trailers, Zahn trenchers, mini-hoes, and underground construction equipment (backhoe, hydrovac, etc.). Training is provided for suitable applicants.
  • Licensing: A valid Class 3 driver’s license is required; Class 1 is preferred.
  • Travel & Location Flexibility: Willingness to travel regularly within Manitoba and Saskatchewan, including remote locations.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials over 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable spending the majority of the day standing or walking.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to maintain a strong, respectful working environment for your team.
Responsibilities
  • Lead Drop Crew: Oversee the installation of fiber optic lines from the main line into residential homes.
  • Daily Site Coordination: Plan and direct crew activities to ensure quality, efficiency, and timely completion of projects. Address challenges such as mechanical issues or scope changes.
  • Reporting: Submit daily production reports including as-built documents, quality control checklists, truck and equipment pre-trip inspections, and ground disturbance reports.
  • Mentorship: Guide and coach team members, providing on-the-job training, and promoting a culture of safety and best practices in construction.
  • Safety & Compliance: Facilitate regular safety meetings, and Toolbox talks, and ensure adherence to RFNOW’s OH&S policies and standards.
  • Problem Solving: Address any issues that arise on-site, including workflow disruptions or safety concerns, and report these to the Superintendent.
  • Public Interaction: Maintain a positive rapport with consumers and the public, addressing inquiries and ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Incident Reporting: Ensure that all incidents (near misses, damage, injuries, environmental concerns) are reported before the end of the workday.
  • Team Leadership: Promote and maintain a respectful, safe, and productive working environment for your crew.
