Drum Tutor Required – Marks Tey, Colchester
BOLT Music Tuition is a modern contemporary music service currently offering 1-2-1 guitar, bass and drum lessons located in Marks Tey between Braintree and Colchester.
We are a small independently run guitar, bass and drum tuition service operating from our four dedicated studio/rehearsal units in Marks Tey. Both of our drum tutors are currently fully booked and so we’re looking for an enthusiastic and reliable individual to help us take on extra students either the during the week or at the weekend. We have a small number of potential students waiting, however please appreciate it may take time to build your customer base.
Typical weekday teaching hours are between 3:30pm and 8:30pm. We’d look to start by offering one day of teaching per week, with the opportunity to build up more hours over time if you’re interested. We’re always happy to work with you to find days and times that suit your schedule.
This role could be ideal for someone with an existing full-time job looking to top up their income, or for a working musician who already teaches and performs.
All admin (email correspondence with parents, payments, bookings etc) is completed on your behalf so you’re able to focus on just the teaching aspect of this role.
Expected Start date - 15/07/25
You must be enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious. Your own transport/driving license is essential.

This position may also be attractive to any mobile tutors with existing students who would like to operate their tuition service from a fixed premises to allow them to minimise travel time/fuel expenses and teach their students back to back within a professional environment.

The ideal candidate will;

  • be happy to engage with students and students parents
  • be able to teach all ages and abilities
  • be a motivated, punctual and professional teacher
  • be able to commit to a regular weekly teaching schedule
  • be able to teach face to face lessons in a fun and engaging manner
  • hold a DBS certificate or be happy to apply for one
  • have prior teaching experience
  • be able to teach graded studies such as Rockschool/Trinity
  • be able to learn and teach songs/riffs quickly at students request
  • be able to develop and implement engaging drum lesson plans tailored to students’ skill levels and interests.
  • be able to teach fundamental drumming techniques and music theory to enhance students’ understanding of rhythm and timing.
