ABOUT THIS JOB

As a Highways Operative undertake all Highways maintenance and repairs work to support the DSO Operations Team Leader in the delivery of the Highways Contract Services ensure delivery and maintenance of all these services, and support for the LBBD operational objectives borough wide. Ensure on the completion of the Highways Service tasks above ensure all works tickets are returned, and electronic works systems are updated daily. Assist the Highways service in dealing with incidents of Fire, Road Traffic Collisions, clear and lift fallen trees, and the removal of street furniture (bollards and metal fencing) from the carriageway and footways. During the winter months assist the Highways service in undertaking key winter services and commitments to maintain the LBBD Highway Network in meeting the statutory obligations including the LBBD Highway Gritting Programme.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POST

Education in Maths and English with the ability to understand written / verbal instruction. Experience in using an iPad. Some experience of working in a Highways environment with hands on skills such as multi-tasking, use of initiative, problem solving, working independently and prioritising workloads; and the ability to be resilient in a pressurised environment.
