Description

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life of our members by providing compassionate, respectful, and person-centered support. You will work closely with participants to help them develop greater independence and confidence in their daily lives. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a difference and who thrives in a supportive, collaborative, and dynamic environment.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or Certificate in one of the following (or a related field) is preferred:
  • Developmental Services Worker (DSW)
  • Social Service Worker (SSW)
  • Youth Care
  • Psychology, Sociology, or Human Services
  • A combination of relevant education and work experience will be considered.
  • Additional training in behavioural support, crisis prevention/intervention, or person-directed planning is considered an asset.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Up-to-date immunizations and TB test may be required in accordance with public health guidelines.
  • Access to reliable transportation is considered an asset for community outings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support and supervision to participants during day program activities.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of individualized goals and daily routines.
  • Support participants in building life skills such as cooking, money management, personal care, and communication.
  • Facilitate recreational, educational, and vocational programming both on-site and in the community.
  • Promote inclusion and social engagement through structured community outings and events.
  • Monitor and document participant progress, behaviors, and daily activities.
  • Encourage and model positive interactions, independence, and self-advocacy.
  • Assist with personal care as needed in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Collaborate with team members, families, and external supports to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment in accordance with agency policies and health & safety standards.
