Department: Sales & Catering Pay Structure: Paid Bi-Weekly Position Overview The Area Catering Sales Manager is a dual-property role responsible for selling and coordinating catering and group-related business for both the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront and the Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront. This position is primarily sales-focused, with defined sales metrics, and proactive communication with the property event managers to ensure successful event coordination. It also supervises subordinate property Event Managers. The ideal candidate is a proactive seller who excels in building client relationships, converting leads, managing room blocks tied to catering events, and driving revenue through targeted sales strategies. Experience with CI/TY, Delphi, or a similar event management system is strongly preferred—expertise in at least one is required. Key Responsibilities Sales & Revenue Generation Drive catering, group event, and room block sales for both properties to meet established revenue goals. Develop and execute strategic sales plans focused on high-potential market segments. Prospect, qualify, negotiate, and close catering and group business opportunities. Create tailored proposals, menus, and event outlines that meet client needs and maximize hotel revenue. Client Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate, government, social, local, and repeat clients. Conduct professional site tours for both properties and manage all follow-up communication to secure business. Serve as the primary sales contact for catering inquiries, contract negotiations, and event detailing as appropriate. Event Detailing & Limited Servicing Prepare Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and coordinate event needs when assigned. Provide event servicing only as backup support; the primary focus of this role is sales generation. Collaborate closely with property events, catering, banquet, culinary, and operations teams to ensure event success. Operations Collaboration & Revenue Management Partner with culinary and banquet leadership to develop relevant catering packages and offerings. Monitor group room block pick-up, cutoff dates, and attrition in coordination with revenue and front office teams. Forecast, report, and track catering sales activity and performance for both properties. Market Awareness & Business Development Analyze catering and group trends, market conditions, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities. Maintain relationships with key accounts, local organizations, and community partners. Support hotel-level and regional marketing initiatives to drive catering demand. Leadership & Team Support Serve as a resource for on-property catering associates, offering guidance and sales support when needed. Assist with training and reinforcing brand standards, service expectations, and sales processes. Qualifications Experience with CI/TY (Marriott) and/or Delphi required (proficiency in at least one). Proven background in hotel catering sales, group sales, or similar hospitality roles. Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities across two properties in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
