Description
Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the Dearborn office. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from Dearborn, MI. Lead the CAE analysis of next generation Model E products, in one or more of the following areas: Body, Closures, Body Exteriors, Interiors and Chassis. Work with D&R engineers to drive design resolutions using both linear and non-linear CAE analysis. Develop component, system and vehicle level CAE models and complete analysis following Ford CAE modeling/analysis guidelines. Where appropriate, conduct studies utilizing optimization tools to meet performance requirements within the constraints of conflicting attributes such as cost and mass. Develop CAE based countermeasures to meet requirements and work with program members to develop design proposals that meet cost and weight targets. Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Systems Engineering, or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. 4 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Develop actionable solutions to structural durability issues for vehicle systems utilizing advanced CAE methodologies including linear and non-linear FEA and codes including Abaqus, nCode and Nastran. 2. Utilize pre-processing tools to create CAE models and post-processing tools to visualize results, including Altair Hypermesh or ANSA. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Conduct CAE analysis using Abaqus and Nastran, including debugging and generating results to drive robust designs. 2. Optimize designs for mass and performance using optimization tools, Tosca or Optistruct. 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Analyzing test or CAE data, drawing appropriate conclusions and making design recommendations to meet vehicle component and system requirements. 2.
