DZ Driver/Loader – Residential Waste
Location: 1220 Squires Beach Road, Pickering, Ontario
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting: Route Supervisor
Schedule: Tuesday to Friday, Mondays and Saturdays as required
Rate: $26.57 + per hour

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Successful candidates must have a valid DZ Driver’s Licence.
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract & CVOR Abstract.
  • Must be a team player, and with safe working habits.

Responsibilities

In the position DZ Driver/Loader your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Be responsible for various waste stream Residential Collections.
  • This may include Yard Waste Collection, Blue Box and/or Green Bin Collection and Residential Garbage Collection.
  • Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service as the proper disposal of the waste streams are vital to the health and well-being of the residents of the community that you are servicing.
  • Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule to ensure all collected various waste streams are to be delivered to local Transfer Stations, Compost Facilities or Landfill Sites in an efficient and appropriate manner.
  • Follow all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, the MTO, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working. Failure to adhere to safety policies and procedures may lead to property damage, injury, or loss of life.
  • Work with employees, management, resident and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times.
  • All waste receptacles that are emptied into the collection vehicle must be placed back on the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same place that they were removed from.
  • Lift and load garbage bags or cans weighing up to 50 lbs. from the ground into the hopper of a 2-person truck or into a side loader of a 1-person truck.
  • Make in excess of 800-900 residential stops per day.
