Haringtons Hotel & Apartments is a stylish 13-bedroom boutique hotel with 16 luxury serviced apartments in the centre of Bath (BA1 1HE). Known for our warm welcome, quirky charm, and high service standards, we are proud to have a team of 25 staff who work hard to create memorable stays for our guests.
We’re looking for a confident and hands-on Duty Manager to join our team at Haringtons Boutique Hotel and Apartments. This role is all about keeping the hotel running smoothly day-to-day, supporting the reception and housekeeping teams, and making sure every guest leaves with a smile. You’ll also carry the night phone, being the first point of contact for emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Be a visible presence at reception and in the lobby, especially during busy check-in/check-out times.
  • Lead and motivate the front-of-house team, encouraging upselling where appropriate and reviewing results daily.
  • Oversee the guest journey from arrival to departure, ensuring a warm welcome and a seamless farewell.
  • Carry out regular walkabouts, picking up on detail, presentation, and Health & Safety issues.
  • Work closely with housekeeping to make sure rooms and apartments are consistently prepared to the highest standards.
  • Take responsibility for guest feedback, responding quickly and constructively to both praise and complaints.
  • Support pre- and post-stay communication so that guests feel looked after at every stage of their booking.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel procedures including finance, GDPR, and health and safety.
  • Keep accurate records and ensure effective handovers between shifts.
  • Act as a role model for the team, dealing promptly with underperformance and leading by example.
  • Communicate VIP arrivals and special requests to the wider team so we deliver memorable stays.
