JOB OVERVIEW

The Office of Research Project Manager, with primary assignment to the Energy Advancement and Innovation Center (EAIC), works in alignment with the Enterprise for Research, Innovation & Knowledge Office of Research’s (OR) Research Infrastructure & Strategic Initiatives team and the EAIC Advisory Committee. This position manages, oversees, and coordinates utilization planning, day-to-day administrative functions and operations of facility, project, and security management, programming, and projects.
The EAIC Project Manager ensures EAIC achieves its living laboratory aspirations through oversight of space use and ensures the EAIC serves the larger Carmenton “Live, Play, Innovate” ecosystem via its conference, seminar, event, and café amenities. This position works in alignment with the EAIC Advisory Committee and the Director of Research Infrastructure to develop and maintain key performance measures for the center; manages logistics and administrative functions for various workshops, conferences and meetings in support of EAIC goals; assists with the development of the EAIC strategic plan.
The EAIC Project Manager leads building tenants contracted service providers and Facilities Operations and Development (FOD) and Information Technology liaisons in a broad range of project and utilization planning, governance, physical operations and maintenance activities; acts as Building Coordinator in liaison with FOD; advises on and administers standard operating policies and procedures for facility operation and physical maintenance; plans and establishes preventive maintenance schedules in coordination with FOD. Manages all internal (Ohio State) and external (non-Ohio State) tenant moves, space renovations, and/or equipment accommodations. Serves as backup building coordinator for additional OR-administered research buildings. Coordinates all aspects of seminar/event space utilization and relationship with dining operations.
Serves as primary contact for safety, security, and crisis management issues of multiple disciplines within the EAIC and additional OR-administered spaces/buildings by managing requests for access to specific building spaces and identifying, investigating, and resolving issues with compliance and safety standards in coordination with Director of Research Infrastructure and Strategic Initiatives and other university units. Develops, monitors, and enforces space assignments; identifies, investigates and escalates space utilization problems and conflicts; serves as liaison to building tenants and contracted service providers, this is inclusive of a café.
The EAIC Project Manager develops and implements communication plans in coordination with Research Infrastructure & Strategic Initiatives team and exceptional customer service, including responding to requests for information, resolving problems on behalf of the organization, and escalating issues as appropriate.
Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned and advises Director on necessary or continued service level agreements, maintenance, equipment purchases, etc.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years relevant experience in a project management or facility services capacity.
  • Knowledge of departmental or facilities management, maintenance and building security.
  • Strong administrative, project management, and communication skills.
  • Computer skills required.

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in a project management, departmental or facility services capacity.
  • Hospitality or conference coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of university processes and relevant policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.
