JOB SUMMARY:
The A2E English instructor is responsible for all aspects of the classroom including delivering curricula and facilitating or planning lessons; creating a safe and stimulating learning environment; and supervising classroom volunteers.
· Preparing and instructing level appropriate Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) skill building and language and settlement lessons to immigrant and refugee newcomers while increasing understanding of Canadian social, workplace, and cultural practices.
· Creating a welcoming and engaging face-to-face and online classroom environment.
· Connecting learners to the community through field trips, guest speakers, and other socio-cultural activities consistent with monthly teaching goals and overall A2E program objectives.
· Monitoring students’ progress through the components of Portfolio Based Language Assessments.
· Providing feedback to students informally on an ongoing basis, and formally through student progress reports and conferencing.
· Maintaining student attendance records and completing monthly reporting requirements.
· Sharing resources, and contributing to curricula and planning joint activities, independently and through teacher sharing sessions.
