Early Childhood Co-Educator – 3 and 4 year old Cara Armstrong Kindergarten Primary Role: Early Childhood Co-educator Early Childhood Co-Educator – 3 and 4 year old program Organisation: Cara Armstrong Kindergarten Provider: Cara Armstrong Kindergarten Closing Date: Wednesday 10th of September Position Type: Permanent Part Time Working Hours: 24.75 hours per week (Wednesday 7:45am - 4:00pm, Thursday 7.45am - 4:00pm, Friday 7:45am - 4:00pm) Location: Hawthorn East State: Vic About the Centre/Service Cara Armstrong Kindergarten is an iconic play-based kindergarten which has been offering the children of Hawthorn East and surrounding neighbourhoods a quality kinder experience and family-friendly atmosphere since 1945. The philosophy behind the program is “learning through play” and an emphasis is placed on providing a stimulating environment and a warm positive atmosphere where children can develop confidence, curiosity, communication skills, and cooperative behaviour. The single room kindergarten offers one 3 year-old program (2 days per week) and one 4 year-old program (3 days per week). Cara Armstrong is a proud community managed and operated kinder with an active committee of management and professional administration. Cara Armstrong Kindergarten is committed to creating an environment where the safety, wellbeing, and participation of all children and young people is paramount. Additional focus is given to vulnerable children, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds, as well as children with a disability. Description We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic educator who can help support our existing high quality educational team. To do this, the successful candidate will

  • Assist the Teacher in the provision of a healthy, safe and welcoming environment for the children and families attending the service
  • Assist in working with individual and small groups of children
  • Attend to the physical, social and emotional needs of the children as required
  • Ensure that any child or group of children in the educator’s care is adequately supervised, and that every reasonable precaution is taken to protect them from any hazard
  • Work under the direction of the teacher in accordance with the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and the Education and Care Services National Regulations, and inform the teacher if the requirements are not being met
  • Adhere to all OH&S safety procedures of the service
  • Commit to a culture that supports and embraces Child Safe Standards and adhere to our Code of Conduct
  • Work as a member of a cooperative and professional team
  • Work across both our 3yo and 4yo groups
  • Be committed to life-long learning

Our teachers and educators operate in a professional manner at all times, meeting the requirements of the Department of Education and Training (DET) Kindergarten Guide, the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010, the Education and Care Services National Regulations, and the policies and procedures of the service. Successful candidates will be paid above VECTEA wage rates with competitive terms and conditions. This is a permanent part time role, with opportunities for extra casual shifts for the right candidate. Qualifications A Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education, or currently working towards these qualifications. We welcome new graduates. Requirements

  • Hold an appropriate first aid training qualification, anaphylaxis management training and emergency asthma management training that complies with the requirements of the Regulations and service policies
  • As a condition of accepting employment with the Employer, all new employees will not be required to provide acceptable evidence that they are vaccinated against COVID-19, however this is strongly encouraged as a term of their employment contract unless a valid medical exemption applies.
