We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Childhood Education (ECE) Center Chef to join our team in North Carolina. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals to children aged 0–5, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintaining a safe and clean kitchen environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of EDU-119 (Introduction to Early Childhood Education) or preferred equivalent coursework.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in food service, preferably in a childcare or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with CACFP guidelines, NC licensing regulations, and sanitation requirements.
  • Certifications: Current Food Safety Manager Certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire), and CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and food preparation.
  • Background Checks: Must pass all required background checks and health screenings in accordance with NC regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Previous experience following CACFP guidelines and working in a licensed childcare setting.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
  • Meal Planning & Preparation: Plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals that meet the dietary needs of young children, adhering to the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines and North Carolina licensing regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain accurate inventory of food supplies, order ingredients as needed and ensure proper storage to minimize waste and ensure food safety.
  • Compliance & Documentation: Complete daily meal counts and CACFP paperwork, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted timely.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including daily cleaning of appliances, utensils, and surfaces, and ensure compliance with NC sanitation guidelines.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure all food handling and preparation practices meet health and safety standards, including proper food temperatures and hygiene practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with center staff to coordinate mealtimes, accommodate special dietary needs, and support the overall well-being of the children.
