Position: Early Childhood Educator Assistant
Reports to: Leq’á: mel Childcare Centre Manager
Position type: Full Time 40 hours per week Monday-Friday
Compensation: $22 per hour. Eligible employees may receive an additional $6/hour government top-up.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be a floating position assisting in our infant and toddler program and working in afterschool care, following Leq’á:mel childcare Policies and Procedures, Leq’á:mel childcare Staff Policies and Procedures, Fraser Health Authority Licensing Regulations, Community Care Assisted Living Act and ECE Code of Ethics. The Early Childhood Educator Assistant will provide a healthy, safe, and nurturing environment for children to grow and develop with indigenous culture and traditional teachings as well as encouraging the child’s growth in their spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, and social development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in our infant and toddler program and afterschool care, as well as supervising the health, safety and well being of all the children.
  • Following the Fraser Health Authority Licensing Regulations, Community Care and Assisted Living Act, ECE code of ethics, and Leq’á: mel Childcare Centre Policies and Procedures.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum and cultural components that encourages and promotes the growth and development of children in their spiritual, physical, emotional, mental, and social development.
  • Effective communication skills with parents and coworkers.
  • Effective written communication skills and maintain record keeping of required program operational forms.
  • Maintain and continue professional development for recertification and educational growth.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Educator Assistant licence to practice

  • First Aid Certificate
  • Knowledge of Indigenous Culture an asset.
  • Food Safe Certificate
  • Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable sector
