BGC Okanagan is hiring a part-time Early Childhood Educator Assistants for our Preschool-Little Learners program at Helen Gorman Elementary (West Kelowna). This position is available during the academic school year: September 2025 to June 2026. You will work in partnership with an Early Childhood Educator to provide care and early learning opportunity for children. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Early Childhood Assistant Certification
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Successful completion of Agency screening process, including a criminal record check
    Hours: 30 hours a week during the academic school year, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 2:00 pm
    Rate of Pay: $21.22 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate program and activities. Program schedules include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual group activities.
  • Ensures activities adhere to the BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
  • Monitor, guide and assist children in daily activities.
  • Attends to children’s physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping.
  • Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive behaviour management techniques. Conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
  • Keep program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
  • Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
  • Ensures a healthy and safe environment in which children can interact. Identifies and removes potential hazards.
  • Maintains records, reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
  • Establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians
