Job Description
Creative Kids Education Centre (CKEC) offers toddler, preschool, junior / senior primary, and school-age programs with a multi-level, multi-age, hands-on, play-based approach. The environment, activities, programs and interactions are a whole that shape the indoor and outdoor classroom community. CKEC has a large natural outdoor play space that is used extensively to achieve learning and development goals. CKEC serves ages 18 months - 12 years age.
We are currently seeking Jr-Sr Primary/school age teachers.
Full-time and part-time on-site roles located in Hammonds Plains, NS that is not accessible by public transportation. Toddler, preschool, Junior / Senior Primary, and school age teachers develop and implement programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, social and creative development of children. Knowledge of the Day Care Act, licensing regulations is required. Teachers are responsible for planning and implementing daily activities for children, creating a safe and nurturing environment, and fostering the children’s individual growth and development. Tasks include developing age-appropriate curriculum, facilitating creative and educational play, managing classroom organization, and collaborating with parents and other educators. Teachers are responsive to individual abilities, interests and needs of children, including maintaining an environment that engages, protects the health, security and well-being of children.
Programming integrates teacher-initiated and child-initiated activities. Teachers facilitate learning, discovery and development through intentional management of the program and environment.
The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent written and oral communication, dependable, flexible, reliable, and use good judgement. Values and ethics with effective interpersonal skills are valued.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Early Childhood Development and Working with Children
  • Interpersonal Skills and the ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
  • Creativity Skills to develop engaging and age-appropriate learning activities
  • Strong Organization Skills to manage classroom and implement lesson plans
  • Nova Scotia Classification in Early Childhood Education - Level Two, School Age or Level 3
  • First Aid and CPR level C certification is required
  • A current (within two years) Vulnerable Sector check or be able to obtain one
  • Nova Scotia Child Abuse Registry check (within 90 days)
  • Experience is an asset
