JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our Kamloops team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in early childhood education and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. This role is essential in shaping the educational experiences of children, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development.
*$6/hr Wage Enhancement is paid in addition to noted wage range.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid BC Early Childhood Educator Certification.
  • Valid Standard First Aid or Child Emphasis Certificate.
  • Successful Criminal Record Check

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning opportunities
  • with the children based on their interests/needs, both as individuals and as group. Meaningful learning opportunities are delivered both inside and out.
  • Guide and assist the children in the development of appropriate life skills and interactive behavior such as appropriate meal-time behaviour, dressing, resting, diapering and/or toilet habits.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and aesthetically pleasing physical environment that reflects the values and principles of the Society, including the use of natural materials, open-ended materials, and display of children’s work.
  • Nurture positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, and regularly communicate children’s progress. Provide regular opportunities for parent involvement.
  • Collaborate with other educators to create a cohesive, child-centered program that reflects the values and principles of the Society.
  • Regularly observe and document children’s learning and use this information to inform future planning and reflect on children’s progress.
  • Observe children for signs of learning disabilities or emotional challenges and report to the ED or program managers. Deliver oral and written reports on progress as required.
  • Mentor new staff and practicum students where required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of classroom and report any faulty equipment to ED/Program Managers.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and contribute to special events if required
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Responsible for any other related duties as assigned.
