SUMMARY OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Early Childhood Educator Manager, the Early Childhood Educator works within a team to provide a caring, safe, nurturing learning environment for children within the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of an Early Childhood Education Diploma and registered to practice in NB.
• Prefer two years’ experience in preschool (infant/toddler) classroom. Experience should include the ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of all children including at risk, special needs, and culturally diverse populations.
• Knowledge of community resources and referral experience assisting families in need of services is highly desirable.
• Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate family needs, may include some evening or weekend hours.
• Knowledge and experience in working with early childhood mental health and disabilities services.
• Intermediate to advanced computer skills, internet and e-mail.
• Broad knowledge of Wolastoqey/Maliseet culture, traditions, values, and history and experience working with First Nations
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel
• Valid New Brunswick Driver’s License, Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check,

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT & GENERAL DUTIES

• Monitor and document attendance concerns.
• Assist with breaks, food service and bus/pick-up monitoring as needed or as requested.
• Work with other staff to ensure general maintenance and security of the facility.
• Assist with the inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Other duties as required.
